Ralph Pombo is a native of Tracy, California on the western edge of the great San Joaquin Valley. He took his first ride on a sailboat in
2003. Since that time, he has become addicted to the sport. In order to get a better feel for the wind and water, he decided to buy his first Laser
and learn to race. Now, just over three years later, he has moved up to a newer boat, competed in many local regattas, entered several international events, and become a
Thursday night regular at the Treasure Island Summer Series. One has the feeling that Ralph is in this sport for the long haul.

I rediscovered and got hooked on Laser sailing in the late 90's in Southern California but it took quite a few years to get up the courage to branch out from weeknight beer cans. After surviving a windy Olympic Classes Regatta in Long Beach I really learned how much fun Laser racing can be. A recent transplant to the Bay Area, I'm a former sailing instructor and a Coast Guard Licensed captain. I also sailed one design and PHRF on a bunch of lead mines over the years.
